part L2A assessments

What is it?

UK Building Regulations Part L2 defines minimum standards for conservation of fuel and power in commercial buildings. It affects all things building façade and building services related, including the air tightness of a building.

Why is it needed?

It is a legal requirement for new builds to comply with Part L2A and for refurbishments to comply with Part L2B. All new buildings will need to evidence design stage Building Regulations UK Part L Certificates (BRUKL’s) and ‘as-built’ BRUKL’s. These will precede the Energy Performance Certificate Lodgement and will go directly to Building Control.

How do you achieve compliance?

The process of achieving compliance with Part L is reliant on communication between all design team members, each with their part to play. Engaging in this process early in a project can greatly increase the ease at which compliance is achieved and ensure there isn’t an increased reliance on any one building fabric, services system or renewable technology to get that magic BRUKL green light.

Who you gonna call?

At BPM we have years of experience modelling buildings for Part L compliance. We understand the nuances of the National Calculation Methodology and Non-Domestic Compliance Guides. Please feel free to give us a call to discuss your project requirements and we can discuss an efficient way to achieve UK Part L compliance.
